As a celebration of our new dive base in Diani Beach near Mombasa in Kenya, we are offering a special discounted price for doing your SSI Instructor Training Course with us in Kenya.

Ocean Tribe’s dive base in Diani Beach is located on one of the world’s top 10 rated beaches and consistently rated the best in Africa. The palm tree-lined white powder sands run down to azure waters where the fringing coral reefs can be found only 100m off shore.

The Ocean Tribe SSI Instructor Training Program incorporates the Dive Control Specialist Course and the SSI Instructor Training Course. The whole program takes place over 10 days, followed by a 2 day instructor exam, conducted by an incoming SSI Instructor Certifier.

On these two programs you will learn the skills of teaching students and setting up your teaching scenarios for safety and accomplishing the skills. You will take part in presentations from our SSI Instructor Trainer Mark and SSI Dive Con Instructors, about the skills of teaching, marketing and working in the scuba diving industry. There will be a number of pool sessions in which you will take part in graded presentations when you are put in the scenario of an instructor teaching a skill to a number of students. You will also give short academic presentations on set questions to your SSI Instructor Trainer. Finally there are a couple of days in the ocean when you focus on being graded on teaching the open water segments of diver courses.

There is also the option to complete the React Right First Aid and CPR Instructor program during the course which is necessary to be able to teach the Diver Stress and Rescue course when you are a certified instructor. Following on from the course we can look at getting you some Specialty Instructor ratings to move you up the SSI Instructional ladder.
SSI is the world’s most rapidly expanding diver organisation with dive centres and dive professionals located all over the globe. The SSI ODIN digital training system is second to none and offers you the chance to complete your academic training on-the-go wherever you have either Internet access or your Dive SSI app for iOS and Android (which can be viewed offline).

Ocean Tribe has always been committed to offering the best diver training and while we had long been a PADI dive centre with a PADI Course Director Mark Slingo, in 2016 we made the decision to become an SSI centre, based on the quality of the programs offered and Mark crossed over to become an SSI Instructor Trainer.

There are so many options available out there to become a dive professional and we believe that the system offered by SSI will be the one that will best serve dive pros now and in the future.
The full SSI Dive Control Specialist & SSI Instructor Training Course program is open to SSI Divemasters and equivalent ratings such as PADI Divemaster. If you just wish to take part on the Instructor Training course then this is open to SSI Dive Control Specialists and equivalent rating such as PADI Assistant Instructor.
