Day Dive Trips

A day dive trip in Kenya actually normally takes nothing like as long with most of the local dive sites around Diani located between a 10 and 30 minute boat ride away.

Dive trips depart from the Ocean Tribe base in the morning at a time specified by our main office depending on the tides for the day. Included in all dive trip prices are 2 air tanks (unless it is a 1 dive trip), weight and equipment rental, fruit and water on the boat and a professional dive guide.

The local diving is spectacular with protected coral reefs and walls, and the chance to see the giants of the ocean manta rays and whale sharks (season depending. This is in addition to the plethora of turtles, guitar sharks, reef sharks, moray eels, sea snakes and coral reef marine fish that you can find. There are several wrecks, which have been turned into artificial reefs and Ocean Tribe are always doing exploratory dives to find new spots.

On request we can also arrange dive tours of Kenya and Tanzania, taking in the best of the regions diving. Destinations can include Mombasa and the Mombasa marine park and MV Dania Wreck. Kilifi with the MV Fish Eagle wreck and Vuma caverns in addition to fabulous local diving. Watamu and Malindi with the local National Marine Park. Chale Island, Wasini, Pemba and Zanzibar.

This reef consists of a wall running to 23m deep with several species of resident life that can only be found at this location.

This is one of the finest coral reef locations on the Kenyan South Coast. Huge numbers of sea anemones can be found in a field and the spectacular corals make this a great dive.
Tiwi
Strong>Boat Ride: 5 mins Average Depth: 10m

Located a very short boat ride away and located at the end of the river in Tiwi, this dive site offers overhangs and caverns, which are nice subjects for underwater photographers. The river means that it is only diveable in the dry spell between November and April before the rains wash it out.

Another shallow sloping reef, almost half a mile long, Kongo offers magnificent opportunities to find turtles, and a shallower dive in repetitive diving.
Fungao Wreck

Purpose sunk as an artificial reef in 2002 MV Fungao's hull rests at 28m with the top parts of the wreck dive found at 17m. The usual suspects of fish can be found here although for some reason they appear to be bigger on this site, making for a very enjoyable dive on the former fishing trawler.!

The coral reef levels off at the southern end to form a flat area where rays, turtles and various schools of fish can be found.
