Beginner Dive Courses in Diani FAQs
Do I need any experience to join a beginner dive course in Diani?
No experience is needed. Our beginner courses are designed for complete newcomers. We start with basic theory, then move to shallow water training before exploring the reef.
How long does it take to get certified?
The SSI Open Water Diver course usually takes 3–4 days. This includes theory lessons, pool training, and four open-water dives in the Indian Ocean.
What’s the minimum age for a beginner dive course?
You can start learning to dive from age 10 with the Junior Open Water Diver certification. Younger children can join our SSI Explorers program for snorkelling and pool-based scuba activities.
Do I need to know how to swim?
Yes, basic swimming ability and water confidence are required. You’ll need to swim 200 metres and float for 10 minutes during the course.
What equipment do I need?
We provide all the gear for your training, including mask, fins, wetsuit, BCD, regulator, and tanks. You just need a swimsuit, towel, and a sense of adventure.
Will I be safe?
Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. Our instructors are highly qualified, and training is conducted to SSI’s international safety standards.
Can I continue diving after my beginner course?
Yes. Once certified, you can join fun dives around Diani or progress to advanced courses and specialty training. Many divers continue their journey with Nitrox, Perfect Buoyancy, or Marine Ecology courses.
