The PADI Rescue Diver course is where you learn to respond to diver emergencies from a stressed out panicked diver to unresponsive divers in life-threatening situations.

When we dive a massively useful skill to have to be be able to calm buddies down if they are stressed and to be of use during the unlikely event of a dive emergency situation. You will also find out that your awareness as a diver is massively increased following the course and you pay attention to your environment and safety considerations a lot more.

Many divers cite the PADI Rescue Diver course as the most rewarding program they have done.

The course is broken down into three segments, the knowledge development, confined water (in a swimming pool) training and open water dives.

Completing the knowledge development section, starts before you begin the course and requires you to complete the PADI Online learning for the PADI Rescue Diver Course. This can be accessed via the PADI Library app or via the PADI website.

PADI’s cutting-edge digital learning leads the world in diver education and enables you to complete the knowledge development in the comfort of your own home. You can take notes in the app to discuss with your PADI Instructor any concepts which you don’t understand. Assessment of learning is done via quick reviews at the end of every section in the online learning, which you must get correct to proceed so its sure you understand.

Your PADI Instructor will get you to work through each rescue skill, step by step. You will start from basic skills working your way up to putting all skills together in full scenarios.

The PADI Rescue Diver course addresses both self-rescue situations when. you have to help yourself and assisting other divers both responsive, and unresponsive, right through to full resuscitation scenarios.

This is done in the confined water environment to give you optimal conditions to learn, before you go out into real world rescue conditions.

On days 2-3 you will be putting what you have learned in the pool into practice. Your PADI Instructor and assistants will put together surface and underwater scenarios for you to demonstrate your rescue skills. Such scenarios include, missing diver, surfacing unresponsive diver, panicked diver underwater and surface, rescue breathing and CPR and managing a rescue. Once you have completed all the performance requirements you will be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver

All the equipment you will need is typically included in a PADI Rescue Diver Course. You’ll use all the basic scuba gear including a mask , snorkel and fins, a buoyancy compensating device (jacket) that also carries your scuba tank, a scuba regulator to breathe from and instrumentation to monitor depth and air supply.
