Big Cats to Whale Sharks.
Planning the ultimate Kenya adventure
A Kenya safari and diving holiday takes you from wildlife encounters in the African bush to coral reefs beneath the Indian Ocean. Add Diani Beach, time to unwind and the possibility of seasonal whale sharks, and you have a trip worth planning properly.

The adventure doesn’t stop at the shoreline.
A lion resting beneath an acacia tree. An elephant crossing a red-dust track. A turtle gliding over a coral reef. Kenya brings these experiences together in one remarkable holiday.
On safari, you follow tracks and scan the landscape. Underwater, you slow down and watch life unfold around the reef. Combining the two gives your trip a completely different rhythm.
It also works for couples, families and groups with different interests. Some guests want several days of diving. Others prefer snorkelling, a beginner experience or more time on the beach.
From the bush to the blue.
Take a look at the experiences that could become part of your Kenya safari and diving holiday.
Choose your safari.
Leave room for the unexpected.
Start with the time you have. A well-paced stay in one area often offers more than a rushed journey through several parks. Give yourself time to stop, watch and enjoy what unfolds.

Tsavo East
A strong choice for a coastal combinationBroad landscapes, red earth and wildlife make Tsavo East a compelling introduction to safari. It deserves a place on your shortlist when combining the bush with Diani.
Consider at least two nights. More time gives you more game-drive opportunities and avoids turning your safari into a stop between transfers.
Amboseli
Make room for elephantsIf elephants are high on your wish list, consider Amboseli. The park is particularly known for encounters with large elephant herds.
Adding another destination needs extra time. Ask for an itinerary that clearly shows travel days alongside game drives before deciding how much to include.
Big-cat priorities
Build around your wildlife wish listTell your safari planner if lions, leopards or cheetahs are your main interest. This helps shape your destination and the length of your stay.
Sightings cannot be promised. Enjoy the whole landscape: an elephant at a waterhole or a giraffe beside the track may become your favourite memory.

Your next wildlife encounter could be underwater.
After the bush, Diani offers a different kind of adventure. Explore local reefs or, with suitable training and experience, the MV Alpha Funguo wreck.
Your team chooses sites around conditions and the divers on board. Several diving days give you time to settle in and explore different underwater environments.
Already certified?
Plan guided dives and allow time for a refresher if you have been out of the water for a while. Share your certification, logged experience and last dive date when enquiring.
Make your first dives here.
Ocean Tribe’s SSI Open Water Diver course is planned over three days, with pool training followed by four ocean training dives. Complete your digital learning before arrival to make the most of your holiday.
Stay for an optional fourth day and enjoy two additional recreational dives included free after certification. Build confidence, enjoy your new skills and start logging experience.
Course completion depends on meeting all requirements. Allow enough time to learn comfortably.
Explore the Diani dive sites ↗And then there’s
the whale shark.
A whale shark encounter can become one of the defining moments of a Kenya holiday. But these are wild animals, and timing is only one part of the story.
Ocean Tribe’s Diani whale shark trips focus on January, February and March, searching along the coast with opportunities to snorkel when a suitable encounter is possible.
You do not necessarily need a scuba qualification. Participation depends on the activity, conditions, your water confidence and the crew’s guidance.

If whale sharks are a priority, tell us before choosing your dates. We can discuss the seasonal window, current trip availability and how to leave flexibility in your itinerary.
Sightings are never guaranteed. Treat an encounter as an extraordinary bonus to a holiday that already has plenty to offer.
Leave a little room
for doing nothing.
Between game drives and reef dives, give yourself time to enjoy Diani. A slow lunch, a beach walk or an afternoon beside the ocean belongs in the itinerary too.

What could your holiday look like?
Around 10 to 14 days is a useful starting point for a safari, several days in the water and time to relax. A shorter trip can work if you focus on fewer destinations.
Safari first and diving second suits many itineraries. Enjoy the early starts and inland travel, then settle into life on the coast.
This example 12-day plan is a starting point. Arrival airports, accommodation, transfers and flight schedules shape the final route.
