For parents
SSI Explorers is designed to combine fun, education and carefully controlled aquatic experiences. Children build confidence step by step while learning respect for the ocean.
Activities take place in confined water, with a maximum pool depth of 2.5 metres.
The wider programme begins from age six, while scuba activities begin from age eight.
Colourful learning materials and memorable characters make new ideas easier to understand.
Children develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork and care for the marine environment.
Learning that feels like play
Emma and Nico guide each adventure, Spike the Shark explains the dive equipment, and Shelly the Sea Turtle inspires children to protect the ocean.
Parent questions
Children can begin the SSI Explorers programme from age six. Scuba Explorer activities begin from age eight.
Individual sessions are approximately one hour. Children can complete multiple sessions and continue into further Explorer ratings.
Children should be reasonably comfortable in the water, but advanced or competitive swimming ability is not normally required. Contact the team if you are unsure about your child’s readiness.
The programme includes ocean education and snorkelling, followed by a choice of scuba, mermaid swimming or freediving experiences. Children can then continue into specialty ratings.
Bring swimwear, a towel, sun protection and plenty of enthusiasm. Ask the Ocean Tribe team to confirm equipment, paperwork and any medical requirements for your chosen session.
