Complete the three-day certification or stay for a fourth day and enjoy two free fun dives.
Orientation and pool
Review your digital learning, fit your equipment and practise essential scuba skills in a controlled pool environment.
Your first ocean dives
Complete dives one and two on Diani’s reefs, practising your skills to a maximum training depth of 12 metres.
Certification day
Complete dives three and four, progress to a maximum of 18 metres and become an SSI Open Water Diver.
Two free fun dives
Enjoy two additional dives as a newly certified diver. These dives are included free, giving you six dives for the same price.

What you need before the course
Junior depth and supervision limits apply according to age and SSI standards.
Complete a 200-metre swim and a 10-minute float or tread without swim aids.
Complete the diver medical questionnaire. Physician clearance may be required.
Complete your assigned MySSI learning and paperwork before the course.

Open Water FAQs
Is the course three days or four days?
You can complete four certification dives over three days. Alternatively, stay for a fourth day and enjoy two additional fun dives after certification. Both options cost $499.
Are the two additional dives really free?
Yes. The fourth-day option includes two fun dives after certification at no extra cost, giving you six dives in total.
Is the certification recognised worldwide?
Yes. SSI Open Water Diver is an internationally recognised certification.
How deep can I dive?
Adult Open Water Divers are trained to a maximum depth of 18 metres. Shallower age-related limits apply to junior divers.
Can I study before arriving in Kenya?
Yes. Complete most of your digital learning through the MySSI app before arriving in Diani.
What should I bring?
Bring swimwear, a towel, reef-safe sunscreen, a hat and a phone or tablet for the MySSI app.
