Diani’s warm, clear waters are perfect for learning. Our experienced SSI instructors create a relaxed, supportive environment that helps you build skills at your own pace. You’ll start in the pool, learn the basics, and then head out to explore real coral reefs.
You don’t need to be a strong swimmer or have any prior experience. As long as you’re comfortable in the water, we’ll take care of the rest. Our beginner courses are designed to be fun, easy to follow, and packed with unforgettable moments.
Try diving for the first time with our SSI Try Scuba or Basic Diver program. These are short, single-day experiences that get you underwater safely and confidently. For something more permanent, go for the SSI Scuba Diver or Open Water Diver certification, which allow you to dive anywhere in the world.
With SSI’s digital learning system, you can start your dive theory at home. Complete your online training before you arrive in Kenya, then jump straight into the fun part—diving. It’s flexible, easy to use, and perfect for busy travelers.
During your course, you won’t just be learning—you’ll be exploring. Our beginner dives take place on shallow coral reefs filled with colourful fish, rays, turtles, and more. It’s a hands-on way to learn, with real marine life all around you.
Once you’re certified, the adventure doesn’t stop. As part of Ocean Tribe, you’ll get access to our Dive Club benefits, exclusive deals, and advanced training options. We’ll help you keep growing as a diver and exploring new dive sites across Kenya.
No experience is needed. Our beginner courses are designed for complete newcomers. We start with basic theory, then move to shallow water training before exploring the reef.
The SSI Open Water Diver course usually takes 3–4 days. This includes theory lessons, pool training, and four open-water dives in the Indian Ocean.
You can start learning to dive from age 10 with the Junior Open Water Diver certification. Younger children can join our SSI Explorers program for snorkelling and pool-based scuba activities.
Yes, basic swimming ability and water confidence are required. You’ll need to swim 200 metres and float for 10 minutes during the course.
We provide all the gear for your training, including mask, fins, wetsuit, BCD, regulator, and tanks. You just need a swimsuit, towel, and a sense of adventure.
Absolutely. Safety is our top priority. Our instructors are highly qualified, and training is conducted to SSI’s international safety standards.
Yes. Once certified, you can join fun dives around Diani or progress to advanced courses and specialty training. Many divers continue their journey with Nitrox, Perfect Buoyancy, or Marine Ecology courses.
