How long does a scuba dive last? At Ocean Tribe, our standard reef dives run for up to 60 minutes, or until the first diver reaches 50 bar, whichever comes first. Your dive plan, the conditions and the group’s limits can mean an earlier ascent.
Standard reef dives: up to 60 minutes or 50 bar, whichever comes first. On deeper wreck dives, we begin the ascent at 70 bar. The group follows the agreed dive plan and its most conservative applicable limits.

The depth and profile
The same cylinder lasts less time at greater depth, all else being equal. Deeper profiles also affect no-decompression time, so a wreck dive may be shorter than a shallow reef dive.

Does everyone ascend when one diver reaches the limit?
On our standard group reef dives, the group begins its ascent together when the first diver reaches the agreed limit. Follow the procedure explained by your dive leader during the briefing.
Is a full 60-minute dive guaranteed?
No. Sixty minutes is the standard maximum planned reef dive duration. Gas supply, computer limits, conditions or a diver’s comfort may require the group to ascend sooner.
What is the ascent pressure for deeper wreck dives?
On deeper wreck dives, including the MV Alpha Funguo, Ocean Tribe begins the ascent at 70 bar. An earlier ascent may be required by the agreed gas plan, computer limits or conditions.
Do I need to use a dive computer?
Yes. Ocean Tribe requires divers to use a dive computer. The group follows its most conservative applicable profile. Contact the team before your trip if you need to arrange equipment.
Is the underwater dive time the same as the trip duration?
No. The underwater duration is only part of your outing. Equipment preparation, briefings, boat travel and any surface interval also take time. Check your chosen trip for its meeting and expected return times.
