SSI WRECK DIVING COURSE OVERVIEW- EXPLORE HISTORY UNDERWATER
The SSI Wreck Diving course is an exciting and essential course for divers who want to explore sunken vessels and other underwater structures. Whether you’re a seasoned diver or just looking to expand your skills, this course provides you with the knowledge and practical experience needed to safely and effectively explore wreck sites.
Throughout the SSI Wreck Diving course, you will begin by learning the key principles of wreck diving, including understanding the potential hazards of wreck sites and the best safety practices to follow. The course will help you familiarise yourself with the unique environment of wrecks, allowing you to dive with confidence and awareness.
The SSI Wreck Diving course not only enhances your diving skills but also opens up the fascinating world of underwater archaeology and history. Diving on wrecks offers a unique adventure, full of discoveries, but it’s crucial to approach it safely. This course ensures that you have the skills and knowledge to explore wreck sites responsibly.

DURATION
The SSI Wreck Diving Course can be done over 1 day. This incorporates 2 open-water dives on the MV Alpha Funguo. You will also complete digital learning in your own time in the MySSI app.
WHO IS IT FOR?
The course is open to anyone from age 15 who has: Completed the Open Water Diver course or an equivalent rating from another organisation. Due to the depth of the wreck in Diani, you must also be Advanced Adventurer or Deep Diver qualified or taking the Deep Specialty alongside the Wreck Spec.

MEDICAL INFORMATION
All dive course participants must meet medical questionnaire requirements to be able to dive on the course. Some conditions or medications may prevent you from diving. You should visit the Can I Dive page to see if you meet the requirements before booking.
Before diving into the water, you’ll first start with SSI Digital Training, which offers a thorough knowledge briefing and introduces essential scuba diving and safety concepts. This digital training lays the groundwork for your learning experience, and your SSI Instructor will expand on these topics during your wreck dives
You’ll need to complete the knowledge development section before the course begins. This important step helps you build a strong foundation for a safe and enjoyable boat diving adventure. This includes most of the Digital Learning for the SSI Wreck Diving Specialty Course, ensuring you’re fully prepared.
SSI’s cutting-edge digital learning platform is a leader in diver education. It allows you to complete the theory portion conveniently from home. Plus, you can take notes directly in the app to discuss any concepts you’re unsure about with your SSI Instructor.

OCEAN DIVES
We will go by boat out to a local wreck which is suitable for conducting the training.
You will learn techniques for diving on a wreck and mapping procedures as well as preparing non-penetration wreck dives.
You will have 2 dives in total after which you are a fully certified SSI Wreck Diver, assuming that you have met all of the other course performance requirements.
The SSI Wreck Diving course, teaches you to explore the outside of the wreck. To learn wreck penetration techniques: You should follow the Wreck Diving course with the Advanced Wreck Diving course.
