Develop the planning, gas-management and emergency skills needed to explore safely beyond 18 metres and down to a maximum depth of 40 metres.
Deeper dives can reveal dramatic reefs, wrecks and underwater landscapes that are beyond the normal Open Water Diver range.
Depth also increases gas consumption, nitrogen exposure and task loading. The SSI Deep Diving Specialty teaches you how to plan these dives properly and respond to the challenges of deeper recreational diving.
The deeper you go, the faster you consume gas and the less time you have available within no-decompression limits.
