Understanding Currents
Understanding currents is an important part of dive planning. Currents are caused by tides, global wind patterns, and upwellings. Big currents, called gyres, go clockwise in the Northern Hemisphere, and counter-clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere because of the Coriolis Effect.
